Park contract renewal for Glendale

Glendale has secured a two-year contract extension to deliver grounds maintenance services in the south east for its client, the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority.

The contract spans a 26-mile radius, from the East India Dock Basin on the River Thames to Ware town centre, Hertfordshire. A number of sites are of special scientific interest (SSSI).

A team of 12 Glendale staff, including two apprentices, will carry out grass and hedge cutting, rose and border maintenance, weed spraying, leaf clearance, litter collection and meadow cuts.

The Lee Valley Regional Park Authority runs award winning open spaces and sports venues along the 10,000 acre park, attracting more than seven million visits a year.

The park was created as a ‘green lung’ for London, Essex and Hertfordshire in 1966 by an Act of Parliament.

Glendale, the UK’s largest green services provider, has been working with the organisation since 2013.

Adrian Wickham, managing director south at Glendale, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority for the past five years and we’re delighted to continue our partnership.

“The transformation of the area throughout the past five decades has been fantastic, and we’re pleased to be playing a key role in maintaining the beautiful open spaces and nature reserves within the park.

“We’ve been proud to see our work in the area be recognised with seven Green Flag Awards, which we have maintained for the past five years, in addition to seven gold awards in the prestigious London in Bloom competition.

“We’re committed to continue maintaining the green spaces to the highest standards for the benefit of local communities, providing places for learning, recreational activities and relaxation.”

Vince Donaldson, senior contracts and quality manager at the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, said: “Glendale has proven itself to be a company dedicated to continuous improvement in both the services it provides and the need to continually adapt to changes in the way the park is managed. We look forward to the next period in the relationship and will continue to value the services Glendale provides.”
