Glendale has pledged support to the RHS South West in Bloom campaign with a £5,000 sponsorship deal.
Glendale has had significant success in the South West in Bloom competitions itself. It made the decision to support the campaign having witnessed the passion and commitment from local communities first hand through its work with local communities in West Devon, Torbay, Exeter and North Somerset.
South West in Bloom is one of the regional competitions that make up Britain in Bloom, the biggest horticultural campaign in Europe. The aim of the communities that take part every year is to improve and regenerate local environments.
The core aims of Britain in Bloom are to recognise horticultural achievements, environmental responsibility and community participation.
The South West in Bloom campaign includes all elements of the community including residents, schools, local businesses, allotments and gardening enthusiasts, parish councils and local authorities working together.
Terry Doyle, regional director for Glendale in the South West, comments: “The South West in Bloom campaign is a perfect example of how local people can join together to maintain and improve their local area.
“Working as a community to improve their neighbourhood, it empowers people to take ownership of their green spaces, streets and natural environment and removes the barriers of ownership that can often fragment public horticultural displays.
“Glendale has first-hand experience of the passion found in every committee in the region and is proud to be supporting the 2015 campaign and seeing further improvements across the South West.”
