Glendale gives community space a makeover

A team from Glendale has breathed new life into a disused piece of land as part of a project to rejuvenate a street in Enfield.

Homes on Monmouth Road were treated to a makeover and new front gardens courtesy of Enfield Council. The next phase of the project was to overhaul an area of disused land on the street to bring it back into use as a community space for the benefit of the residents.

A team of three specialists from Glendale carried out clearance work before being joined by 10 children from a gardening club at nearby St Edmunds School to plant up the space with shrubs and seasonal bedding.

Shereen Marlow, contract manager at Glendale, said: “We invited the local gardening club to help us with the planting part of this fantastic project. We planted over 800 different plants and taught the children the correct planting methods to use, as well as a bit of information about each plant.

“It’s great to be involved in a community initiative like this that brings everyone together and regenerates a piece of land into a beautiful attraction. Improving green spaces is something we are very passionate about at Glendale.”

Glendale has been delivering grounds maintenance services on behalf of Enfield Council since spring 2016.
