Glendale clear the way for an abnormal load

A team of arborists sprang into action when a specialist Yorkshire-based haulage company needed to move an abnormal load along a route with overhanging trees.

Operatives from national green service provider Glendale trimmed the trees on a 46 mile stretch of road between Kilnhurst in Swinton and Newark-on-Trent, to enable the large load to pass through.

The load, which was transported in a convoy by Collet and Sons Ltd, was 40 metres long, seven metres high and six metres wide.

On move day, Glendale’s team led the convoy along the route to ensure that all tree branches remained clear of the load.

Matt Ford, contract manager for Glendale’s Yorkshire based arboricultural team, said: “It was an unusual project to get involved in but one that required all of our expertise to ensure the move went well. The tree preparation work we completed a few months beforehand was absolutely essential, and made certain that the journey was a complete success.”
