Christopher Wickham is an experienced grounds maintenance operative based on Glendale’s contract with Surrey Heath Borough Council. Here he tells us a bit about his job and what he enjoys most about being a grounds maintenance operative.
How long have you worked for Glendale and what do you do?
I have worked for Glendale for six years altogether. I am a play area inspector at the moment and it’s my job to check and maintain the play area equipment across the borough. I also keep an eye on the overall park maintenance.
What do you enjoy most?
Meeting members of the public in the park who appreciate the work we do and working closely with the management team and the local council.
What is the greatest challenge of your work?
Ensuring the parks and open spaces look at their best in all seasons.
How is Glendale different from its competitors?
I feel like part of a family with Glendale and I feel really appreciated for the work I do.
