We have spent 25 seconds with our founder and chairman, Tony Hewitt, to talk about Glendale’s 25th Anniversary.
Where did the name Glendale come from?
Glendale came from a business of mine called Glendale Industries Limited, and at that time we produced an organic compost using worm casts.
What has it taken to achieve 25 years of service provision?
You have got to build a team of people that have got expertise and specialisms that can undertake the work in a marketplace that wants your goods or services.
What were some of the most important milestones in the company’s growth?
The main one was getting the business started. Winning large contracts and employing the right people too.
When you look back over the journey Glendale has taken since it started, how does it make you feel and why?
It’s a good feeling to think we’ve got this business around us that has provided employment for a large number of people over the last 25 years.
What is next for Glendale?
There is no doubt that the company will have to continue to evolve to be continually successful.
What are your personal plans for the future?
I’m hoping to do less, we’ve got a very good senior management team in place now. But I’m still active, for instance with the new forestry activity, Treelands.
